The Bloom of bosonto
- Debanjan Sarkar
And then he bravely sets off towards the abode of melody and happiness renouncing darkness and fear. Tis a land where zephyr rustles the leaves and the serene waves of contentment flow perpetually.
For him, achievement is neither getting certificates nor getting medals but to overcome fear and challenges which help us to unravel our true potential.
Bosonto Sarkar, a seventeen year old boy with a slightly bulky frame and a charming soul, grew up under the shadow of harsh words and constant comparison. His parents, though perhaps unaware of the damage, never missed to criticize his academic performance, often reminding that he wasn’t as good as the other children. Peer pressure only added fuel to the fire when his friends laughed infront of him and shamed his body behind his back. To him, love was something to earn from both parents and friends. He was directly or indirectly told that he was a burden and needed to ‘do better’ to deserve acceptance.
It's an unfortunate truth that people often find it easier to criticize than to appreciate – even when a person possess a good quality. Bosonto , like many teenagers carried a mellifluous voice that soothes pain, express emotions and lights up any room. His music could have been his wings but the constant criticism suppressed it. Yet, Bosonto used to hum the melody of hope in the background of his pain. These experiences slowly ate away his self worth , leaving him with under confidence and a deep longing for validation. He sometimes felt helpless and clingy. But Bosonto didn’t let his darkness define him. He stumbled upon a song one day written by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore "Bhoy Hote Tobo Obhoyo Majhe", and that was his turning point.
During winter everything seems to be dead but a string of activity works beneath the soil . Earth works upon itself and energy is provided to the buds – which bloom during spring. Similarly he began working on himself – not to prove others wrong but to find the peace and value they never gave him . He started embracing his own pace, learning to be kind and slowly rebuilt his confidence from the scratches that were left. His journey is not one of perfection but of quiet strength – the strength it takes to heal while still carrying the scars .
And at the end he turned into a Palash Flower – bold, fiery and impossible to ignore. The same voice that was once dismissed now touches hearts and souls, and inspires others like him to believe in self worth. He is a living melody, a Palash in full bloom, singing his truth to the world.
